Cam Impressions (5/10/2001)
I was change camshaft from GL spec to Mugen R1 replica.
(My old RS cam is worn very much. I couldn't get brand-new RS cam)

GL cam's torque range is 1500 - 4500 rpm in RS dual keihin CV carbs.
Engine can run over 6500 rpm, but not so good torque above 5000 rpm.
After that, I was change from RS carbs to Quad keihin CV carbs with Yoshimura's manifold.
The torque range is shift to high rev. ( 2800 - 6000 rpm ).
Above 4000 rpm, torque is little increased. I think this is Yoshimura's manifold character.
And then, I fit Mugen R1 cam.
Idle is a little bit lumpy, but it has good stability with quad carbs.
In below 1500 rpm, torque is little bit decreased.
In 2000 - 4000 rpm, torque is almost same as Gl cam.
Above 4000 rpm, there is rich torque until 6500 rpm.
I feel little valve surging over 6500 rpm in stock valve springs.
If I use RS dual CV carbs, I think torque range is 2500 - 7000 rpm with racing valve spring.
Now I don't increase comp. ratio yet.
If you increase C/R above 10:1, you can get more torque in low revs below 4000 rpm.
